I am Veterinary Doctor graduated from the University of Antioquia, I have a Master's Degree in Basic Biomedical Sciences with an emphasis in Virology and a Doctorate in Animal Health with an emphasis in Viruses. I has been professor at different Universities from Colombia Including the National University of Colombia, University of Antioquia, CES University and for more than six years I has been a Full Time Research Professor at the Cooperative University of Colombia. My main focus of research is the molecular characterization of Animal and zoonotic viruses, trying to understand interspecies virus Jump. I has been classified with the highest level as Senior Researcher from the Colombian Ministry of Sciences and Technology and I was the First President of the Colombian Society for Virology of which currently I am a Member of the Board of Directors. As a faculty member, I am also mainly involved in teaching graduate students. Currently, I am mentoring three PhD and four Masters students, all of them working on projects related to the molecular and Structural characterization of Viruses and Vaccine development fordomestic animals and it role in human diseases.
