I am a Research Associate at the Southern African Centre for Infectious Disease Surveillance (SACIDS) Foundation for One Health, Morogoro, Tanzania. I hold a PhD in Veterinary Medicine (Molecular Virology-Immunology-Vaccinology) from Sokoine University of Agriculture (October 2024); an MSc in Quality Security Environment from Cheikh Anta Diop University (2017), and an MSc in Animal Health and Production from Nangui Abrogoua University (2015). My research interests are on the genomic epidemiology of viral diseases that threaten health, food security, livelihood and vaccine development. SACIDS is an institute of SUA that deals with infectious diseases of humans and animals within the ecosystems of southern, central and eastern Africa. I have acquired laboratory skills, quality control, and safety techniques that enable me to conduct cutting-edge research and propose concrete solutions for the challenges faced by the livestock sector in Africa and beyond. I am a proactive problem solver, able to manage multiple tasks at once and contribute to improving internal processes. My current project focuses on evaluating a DNA genotype-matched vaccine against Newcastle disease, a devastating and highly contagious infection of poultry that has a major economic and social impact in Africa. Working with the Weger-Lucarelli lab and the Southern African Centre for Infectious Disease Surveillance (SACIDS-ACE), I aim to contribute to the advancement of science and the improvement of livelihoods of smallholder farmers. I am motivated by the vision of a world where animals and humans can coexist in harmony and health.
