STAR IDAZ IRC at the 93rd WOAH General Session: Advancing Global Animal health Research Coordination in Support of the 8th Strategic Plan
Paris, May 2026 — STAR IDAZ International Research Consortium on Animal Health participated in the 93rd General Session of the World Organisation for Animal Health (WOAH), hosting a kiosk to engage with global stakeholders and advance dialogue on the future of animal health.
Held under the theme “Investing in Animal Health to Secure Everyone’s Future”, this year’s General Session strongly links with the importance of coordinated research investment at the core of STAR IDAZ IRC’s mission.
Throughout the event, the Secretariat team engaged with policymakers, researchers, and funding organisations, showcasing ongoing activities, global research priorities, and opportunities for collaboration. With a growing network of 36 partners and over 80 countries involved in its networks’ activities, STAR IDAZ IRC continues to play a key role in aligning research efforts and accelerating the development of tools to tackle major animal diseases and zoonoses.
A key milestone of the General Session was the official adoption of the WOAH 8th Strategic Plan (2027–2030). Throughout the plan, the critical role of coordinating global research efforts to align scientific priorities is highlighted, and at STAR IDAZ IRC we are proud to support delivering on these objectives by:
- Strengthening strategic partnerships across the global research community;
- Providing platforms for information sharing and collaboration;
- Facilitating coordinated research efforts to maximise impact.
As global challenges continue to evolve, coordinated investment and collaboration in animal health research remain essential to advancing Animal Health and One Health outcomes and securing a sustainable future for all.
