STAR IDAZ Scientific Committee Meets in Vienna
The STAR IDAZ International Research Consortium (IRC) held its annual in-person Scientific Committee meeting in Vienna on 15 August 2025. This was the first meeting chaired in person by Vish Nene, and the agenda covered a wide range of priority topics.
Discussions focused on foot-and-mouth disease, brucellosis, helminths and African swine fever, with working groups providing important updates. These insights will help shape recommendations to be presented to the Executive Committee at its upcoming meeting in Beijing next month.
The Vienna meeting also highlighted the ongoing improvements to the STAR IDAZ website, which has been re-developed over the past year. Visitors can now sign in and set alerts for updates on priority topics, ensuring timely access to new developments.
The Scientific Committee continues to play a key role in supporting the STAR IDAZ mission: coordinating global research to develop new and improved strategies against priority animal diseases and zoonoses.
