Bachelor in Veterinary Medicine with distinction (1991), PhD in Veterinary Sciences (2003). Senior researcher in epidemiology at the National Center for Animal & Health (CENSA), Full Academician of the Academy of Sciences of Cuba (ACC). More than thirty years of experience in the design and conduction of applied research to contribute to the advancement of surveillance and control programs in animal health. Expert of the World Organization for Animal Health (WOAH) and head of its Collaborating Center for Disaster Risk Reduction based at CENSA. Member of OFFLU, a joint WOAH/FAO network of experts on animal influenzas. Expert of the working group for the Co-Design of solutions to reduce zoonotic risk, as part of the global initiative PREZODE (Prevention of Zoonotic Disease Emergencies). He belongs to the Caribbean Animal Health Network (CaribVET) and is head of its epidemiology working group.
