Objectives & Deliverables
Project Methods
We will select and testa large set of swine and bovine culture-confirmedB. suispositive samples with a series of brucellosis serologic tests for further characterization. These samples will then be screened on a novel pan-Brucellaproteome microarray consisting of 3,734 full-length or fragmented proteins representing 3,090 unique genes out of which 2,401 are from the core proteome conserved among all Brucella speciesto identify novel diagnostic antigen candidates for the detection ofB. suisinfection. We will further validate the identified biomarker candidates in an ELISA format and will provide ELISA prototypes to USDA for independent validation.
