STAR IDAZ IRC Capripoxvirus Gap Analysis Workshop
Capripoxviruses, including lumpy skin diseases virus (LSDV), sheeppox virus (SPPV), and goatpox Virus (GTPV), are a group of viruses that cause contagious diseases in animals. Characterised by skin lesions, pustules, and other systemic symptoms, these diseases can have a significant impact on animal health, welfare, and productivity. The ability to affect multiple species, including both livestock and wildlife, makes them an important concern for global animal health.
The STAR IDAZ International Research Consortium (IRC) Capripoxvirus Gap Analysis Workshop offers a unique opportunity for global experts to convene for in-depth scientific discussions. The workshop will focus on assessing the global research landscape, identifying critical knowledge gaps, and will aim to develop global research roadmaps for diagnostics, integrated control strategies, and vaccine development.
The workshop will take place from Tuesday 21st to Thursday 23rd July 2026 in Bali, Indonesia.
Attendance is by invitation only and places are limited. If you are a capripoxvirus expert and you want to get involved, please contact Katie (katie.gordon@defra.gov.uk) and Georgina (g.grell@cabi.org) for more information.
