Translation of basic research of mycoplasma mastitis to dairy cows to unveil novel therapeutics and vaccine targets

Summary

Mycoplasma bovis mastitis is an emerging and prevalent disease of dairy cows in The overall aim of this proposal is to make use of our unique clinical samples obtained from cows affected by M. bovis mastitis for in depth analysis of the pathophysiology of the disease. To this end, we will perform whole genome transcriptome analysis and multiplex immunohistochemical imaging of infected udder tissues spanning from the teat cistern to the deep parenchyma. We will use a pipeline of artificial analysis and machine learning techniques developed and established in our laboratory to analyze both the genetic response and spatial protein expression of the cow udder in M. bovis mastitis.
